Wireless Network in Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit Customer Introduction
Customer Requirements
As the distances between explosion points are over several kilometers, wired connectivity is rather difficult and not practical for such a temporary network. Wireless networking is the ideal choice! Project Aim Because this fireworks evening party is specifically held for the 5th anniversary of SCO, all the heads of states will be watching along the Huangpu River and a successful party is crucial and directly reflects the image of China on the International stage. Leaders of Shanghai Government and SMG, also, strictly demand a flawless performance, emphasizing the need for a stable and reliable system and wireless network. Additionally, the explosion hosts must have a very short latency, otherwise the firing effects will be delayed and the effectiveness of the presentation undermined.
System Introduction This project utilizes the all-weather high-performance outdoor bridge, which features a high data rate performance and convenient installation enabling a high-speed and stable wireless network to be established within a short time. Centered at the sightseeing hall of the Oriental Pearl, the wireless network has five bridges covering 12 explosion points. Each point communicates with the bridge in the Oriental Pear via CPE while one bridge is used to connect to the Puxi control center, two kilometers away. With an AP / Station Adaptor infrastructure, the wireless network adopts P2P and P2mP modes connecting 13 edge points together via the wireless link. The whole wireless network operates with excellent stability and reliability, with network latency less than 5 milliseconds, which completely meet the project requirements.
Advantages of wireless connection solution:
1. Convenient installation and fast network deployment Experience has shown that wireless network products are easy to deploy, consuming less labor and material resources. In this project, the Oriental Pearl connects 13 end points 2 kilometers away just in 2 days with very little manpower, the same amount of time it takes for the network commission. 2. Great extensibility
A wireless network of this sort is east to extend. Changing the corresponding wireless units can alter the access points without changing current network structure. Several times the need to change explosion points required the addition and alteration of wireless access points, but thanks to the extensibility of this wireless network, modifying the network plan in a short time becomes possible. 3. High bandwidth
These wireless bridges can establish high-speed wireless link with stability and reliability while still keeping latency very low. 4. Secure and reliable data transmission
Multiple encryption methods can effectively prevent unauthorized user from accessing ensuring a secure wireless network. Conclusion A grand fireworks show "The stars are bright tonight" vividly illustrates a harmonious cooperation prospect to the states members of the SCO. In June 2006, the 6th Summit of Heads of the States Members of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is held in the Shanghai International Convention Center. Shanghai Media Group (SMG) hosts a grand fireworks evening party along the Huangpu River before the opening of this summit, celebrating the 5th anniversary of SCO.
Fireworks are set off electronically by the controling host computer. The explosion points are located around the Oriental Pearl, along the Huangpu River and near buildings and parks along Pudong, while the control center is in Puxi. A complex network is required to connect all the explosion points and the Puxi control center together. The Puxi control center arranges and sends order to each explosion host via a control host.
